The classic white shirt & jeans combination

Let’s start with a classic.

The Marc Cain Fendou jeans have a fabulous exaggerated turn-up at the hem and are paired with a gorgeous crisp white shirt from Luisa Cerano.

The shirt is beautifully made from crisp cotton, with three-quarter sleeves, buttons down the front and an exaggerated cuff. It’s one of those pieces that feels simple at first glance but is all about the quality and detail.

And as Sue says, there’s something about a crisp white shirt and a great pair of jeans that just works.

Bring on the autumn shades

Next up, Sue has chosen a beautiful Luisa Cerano blouse featuring gorgeous autumnal browns and greys, teamed with charcoal-grey MAC flared-fit jeans.

The colour combination is spot on for the season, with the grey of the jeans picking up the tones in the blouse.

MAC jeans are a firm favourite in the shop, and Sue also shares a handy denim-care tip from one of the reps: don't use fabric softener when washing jeans containing elastane. It can affect the elasticity, meaning your jeans may lose some of that lovely structured fit.

A little bit of personality

If you prefer your outfits with a little more something, take a look at this next combination.

A pair of MAC flared-fit bootcut jeans in a great mid-blue is teamed with a wonderfully playful Vilagallo blouse covered in butterflies, hearts, logos and even a “Kiss Me” slogan.

There are lots of colours to pick out from the blouse, making it an easy piece to style with different accessories and layers.

And when it comes to sizing, Sue is always refreshingly honest. She normally wears a 12 on a good day and a 14 on a bad day, fluctuating between a 36 and 38 in MAC jeans.

The jeans shown have a 32" leg, with 34" also available — and for our very tall and lucky ladies, there are even some 36" leg options!

Denim jackets: the wardrobe multitasker

If there is one denim piece that deserves a place in everyone's wardrobe, it's the denim jacket.

They're brilliant year-round and can be thrown over practically anything — jeans, trousers, shorts or a dress.

Sue shows us several Marc Cain options, including a cropped style from the Marc Cain Sports collection with a subtle snake-print effect, buttons down the front and multiple pockets.

Then there's a more faded denim jacket with lovely waist detailing and Marc Cain branding to the back.

And for something a little different, there's a gorgeous mid-blue tie-waist denim jacket. The shape gives it a slightly more feminine feel and it looks fabulous worn with jeans.

And finally… Paige

Our final denim look features a pair of Paige cropped jeans in a faded blue, styled with the Vilagallo shirt Sue showed earlier and one of the brand's fabulous gilets.

Vilagallo is brilliant at adding those unexpected pops of colour and detail, and the faux-fur gilet brings another layer of texture to the outfit.

It's a great example of how you can take a simple pair of jeans and build a much more interesting outfit around them.
